The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) invites automotive quality management professionals to attend the inaugural Automotive Quality Management Systems (AQMS) Conference, 20th-21st November 2018, NEC Birmingham.
The two day conference aims to raise quality standards in the UK automotive industry through the dissemination of the latest thinking in tools, techniques and philosophies.
The event includes speakers from OEMs, quality certification and accreditation bodies, as well as support organisations and panel discussion and collaborative, practical workshops.
Aimed at quality management professionals operating in OEMs and throughout the automotive supply chain, the event is a valuable opportunity to hear from leaders in automotive quality and network with quality professionals at a drinks reception and dinner on the evening of the 20th November.
The event will raise the UK automotive industry’s quality standards in the face of new certifications, tightening OEM standards, the challenges brought about by Brexit and increasing calls for product safety accountability.
The AQMS conference has attracted speakers from senior OEM supplier quality management roles such as JLR, BMW, and Bentley Motors and international automotive quality management experts. Keynote presentations, a panel discussion and practical workshops will also be led by representatives from the IATF, ISO and VDA; accreditation body, UKAS; North American quality organisation, AIAG; the UK’s national measurement institute, the National Physical Laboratory (NPL); the automotive industry’s consultancy and training company, SMMT Industry Forum; and multinational legal firm, Eversheds Sutherland.
The AQMS conference will be the first forum of its kind to raise the automotive quality management systems profession and become a one-stop annual destination for the exchange of the latest knowledge and thinking on automotive quality management systems, standards, tools and practices.
The time is right to meet as a professional community, hear directly from OEMs about what matters to them and share the latest information on quality standards such as IATF, ISO and VDA.
This conference is designed for all quality management professionals from both OEMs and supply chain companies across the functions of quality management and supervision, including:
- Quality engineers
- Supplier quality professionals
- Product design and development professionals
- Manufacturing and operations leaders
- Managing directors of small and medium-sized companies
About this event:
Automotive manufacturers are facing a number of challenges where the priority response is a robust quality system. OEMs, particularly in Germany, are increasingly holding suppliers to their legal obligations around product safety legislation; there are some common non-conformities among companies transitioning to the new IATF 16949 certification and Brexit will undoubtedly have an impact quality standards. Quality does not end with certification: OEMs tell the SMMT there is a need for suppliers to live their certifications to reduce variation and waste and to drive improvement. With this conference, we are gathering the automotive quality management profession together to discuss, advise on and problem-solve these, and many other, quality issues.
The conference is £675 + VAT and includes attendance on both days of the event, plus a drinks reception and dinner on the evening of the 20th. Please indicate upon registration if you intend to join us for dinner. Please note, accomodation is not included: For a list of local hotels, please contact the event organiser.
