For its culminating project, the graduating Music Business class at SAE Institute Chicago hosted a mobile concert on a double decker bus on August 26, 2015 to showcase some of the hottest local artists while putting their studies to practical use.
The concert made selected stops at music culture locations around the city including Jugrnaut and Threadless, and featured a finale at the Bridgeport Art Center. Students met local business owners and members of the community who stopped to capture and join in with the unique, impromptu showcase of artists including Ario The Great, Netherfriends, Ravyn Lenae, Truth Turner, and more.
“This is what happens when you believe in students and have a department and school that is prepared to deal with different challenges everyday,” said Martin Atkins, the Music Business Department Chair.
While the graduating class planned and executed the event, first semester Music Business students assisted with the audio production and second semester students filmed the event and interviews.
Previous capstone projects included filling a rock club on a Wednesday evening and taking over a Chicago Transit Authority train to host electronic dance music DJs.
